  • Above 15C no fill (0g). 10-15C 50-100g. 5-10C 150-200g. 0-5C 250-300g. Below zero 300-400g. In strong wind and rain add 50g.
  • Tape from centre of chest along the side to root of tail. The length in cm is your rug size. E.g. 135 cm equals rug 135. Measure twice to be sure.
  • Turnout is waterproof and tear-resistant (1200D to 1680D). Stable has no waterproof layer, is softer and warmer, only for horse in box. Never use stable rug outdoors.
  • Pro has 1680D, double shoulder reinforcement, higher neck cut. Classic 1200D basic construction. Pro recommended for horse that moves a lot outdoors or is with other horses.
  • Shake off dirt, remove heavy stains. Special rug wash (at stable or rental). Regular washer won't handle it. 30 degrees, special rug detergent.
  • When day temps stay above 15C and night above 8C. Horse grows summer coat in April-May. If growing thick coat gradually reduce fill.
  • Kentucky and Bucas 5-7 years with proper care. Cheap rugs (Horze, Elt) 2-3 years. Premium rug investment pays off, especially turnout must withstand rain and wind.
  • Better two different. One clean stable, one work/turnout. Rotate when one dries. For winter ideal 3 fills (light, medium, heavy) plus waterproof turnout.
